My best holiday is a happy new year!! Japanese call it oshogatsu, and celebrate coming a new year!! We can get New Years' cards from your friends, teachers, and colleagues. Children can get money called otoshidama from adults such as parents, and relatives. When I was a child, I bought what I wanted by using it. I enjoy eating big meals with my family and relatives. I'm glad to come the day because I can meet them  who can't meet frequently. I'm looking forward to meeting with my family and relatives next new year!

When I took on part time job of wedding ceremony, I heard a wondering bridal rhyme. The traditional rhyme was originated in England. It has adopted in Europe and the United States for more than 200 years. It came from the following song of Mother Goose:

 Something old,

 something new,

 something borrowed,

 something blue,

and a silver sixpence in her shoe.

For example, a bride wears jewelry goods from mother for something old, new white gloves for something new, handkerchief borrowed from her friend who are enjoying a happy marriage life for something borrowed, and a garter with blue ribbon for something blue. The rhyme shows that a bride would be happy by wearing them. I want to do it as a surprise when my best friend gets married.

Do you know the movie named “The Tourist”? I like this movie, because there are two famous casts in the movie. Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp are my favorite actress and actor. It’s not only one reason why I like the movie. I also like the story. Johnny Depp, the American man who travels to Italy becomes involved in a big plan by meeting Angelina Jolie, the beautiful mysterious women. The movie is romantic, funny, and thrilling. I couldn’t expect the ending…I had no idea that the person was….Anyway If you haven’t seen the movie, I want you to see it!

If you come to Japan, I want you to come to Kyoto. Kyoto has a lot of attractive temple and shrine. I recommend that you go to the shrine called Fushimi Inari Taisha. There are over 10000 torii gates. The beauty is mystic and irresistible. I also recommend Byōdō-in. This building is a part of Japanese coin, and is listed as a World Heritage Site. In Fall, you can see autumnal colors of the leaves in there. As you may know, Streets in Kyoto are old and beautiful. You can rental and wear kimono. Why don't you walk around with kimono? When you walk there, you may meet geisha. In Kyoto, there are not only streets and buildings, but also delicious food. Do you know matcha? It's traditional food in Japan. In Kyoto, you can enjoy various kinds of macha such as Matcha parfait, matcha cake and Matcha drink. Looking back, Kyoto is a attractive place! Why don't you come to Kyoto?

I’d like to learn Spanish. When classes started, I was surprised, because most of the students speak Spanish as their mother language. I know that a lot of people speak Spanish in the world, but the number of people who speak Spanish is more than I expected.. If I can speak Spanish, I can communicate with a lot of people and make more friends in various countries. In addition, Spanish makes it easier for me to travel to those countries, so if I have a chance, I want to learn Spanish.

My dream would come true if I won $10 million in the lottery. My dream is to live in Republic of Croatia for years. Croatia is in Southeastern Europe, and on the Adriatic Sea. I’ve always wanted to go there, since I watched the country on TV when I was a junior high school student. I love the town of Croatia that every house has an orange roof, and also I can look at the beautiful Adriatic Sea from the country. Anyway, if I won $10 million in the lottery, I’ll go to there, but I didn’t use up $10 million. I want to take it easy in there without changing my life a lot.

I think Calgary is safer than another city, and Canada is also safer than them. I heard that nights of downtown are sometimes dangerous, because there are some crimes such as using drugs, or stealing someone’s things, but you can see those situations in other countries, so I think Calgary is safer than another city where always face a terrorist threat. However, I’m sure that my hometown, the countryside, is more safety city. In my hometown, children can play outside until getting dark, you can find a lost thing at the police office, and also it’s ok to forget to lock your house, but you can't be too careful everywhere. I think you can stay safe to learn various crimes, and be careful.
